Services
I’ve always enjoyed having a variety of ways to help people. As a rural practitioner I have found my practice is quite diverse to meet the needs of my community. Learn about the variety of ways I enjoy working with people. If any of these services match what you are looking for then let’s connect!
Pelvic Health
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy (aka Pelvic Health) is additional education to assess and treat, both internally and externally, pelvic floor dysfunctions. These can show up as symptoms of urinary incontinence, bowel evacuation deficits, pelvic organ prolapse, and pelvic pain. Learn more about pelvic health in my blogs.
General Orthopaedics
This is your most common injury management physiotherapy. Acute and persistent pain, chronic condition/disease management, post-op, tendonopathy, sprains, strains, and fracture rehabilitation. Under a general orthopaedic appointments there will be assessments and treatment interventions including manual therapy, exercise prescription, and advice/education. Learn more here!
Sport Injury
Working with athletes takes additional planning and understanding of sport demand amongst recovering from an injury. With a combination of my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and a keen interest in this special population I enjoy helping athletes navigate the unique challenges of sport injury. I am currently the lead physiotherapist for the Pilot Mound Hockey Academy.
Acupuncture
Meeting the required certification, physiotherapists can provide acupuncture treatments as a part of physiotherapy under the scope of practice. This is limited to assisting tissue healing, pain management, decreasing muscle tension, and improving circulation. I obtained my training in 2020 and incorporate acupuncture as a tool that can help assist in recovery.
Webinars/Presentations
I enjoy teaching about how we can keep our bodies healthy. I've talked to companies about office ergonomics, sports teams about head injuries, and fitness groups about pelvic wellness. I adjust my teachings to suit the audience, sharing basic body insights and tips to prevent injuries. The more we understand our bodies, the better can help them, and the sooner we can get back to doing what we love.
Concussion Rehabilitation
We now have excellent resources and research around concussion rehabilitation compared to 10-15 years ago. Physiotherapists do not diagnose concussions, however we can assess with the SCAT, suspect a concussion had occurred, remove from play, advise on acute management, and provide rehabilitation for optimal recovery and assist with the shared decision making for a safe return to play. Learn more about concussions here.
Sport First Responder
Outside of the clinic, I can be found on the bench attending to sports injuries. If you need a medical attendant for your sporting event/team please reach out and inquire about services.
Exercise Counselling
Have you been told you should exercise? Maybe from your doctor or family member? Exercise is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. However, we know exercise is good for us but often don’t have the tools or resources to integrate exercise into our daily lives. This is where exercise counselling comes in. I love to problem solve, work on goal setting, and take an individualized approach to establishing an exercise habit.
